About

Through her artwork, Zenaira investigates the materiality and potential physicality of paint and painting processes as well as painting as installation.

Generated by her own photographic observations of the urban landscape and architecture, these enquiries revolve around the relationship between the picture plane, perceptual depth and the viewer. The work not only exploits the strong linear components of western perspectival conventions but also examines the potential of amplified colour and tone to enhance or disrupt our perceptions of space.

Allowing her paintings to exist three-dimensionally incorporates the movement of the viewer and therefore a continuously shifting perspective. This leads to a playful tension between the permanent architecture of the exhibition space and the impermanent artwork.
